Best Wishes Chief Fong
SFWPC was well represented at the Friends of the Commission on the Status of Women “Women in City Leadership” lunch honoring Chief Heather Fong today! It was a beautiful celebration of the Chief’s 32 years of service to the City and County of San Francisco as women leaders came together to honor her leadership. Hosted by Emily Murase and the Commission on the Status of Women, we heard beautiful heartfelt remarks from Marily Mondejar, Andrea Shorter, Catherine Dodd, Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White, Anni Chung, Theresa Sparks and Wendy Willow Wark. The room was filled with powerful women – Commissioners, department heads, elected officials, Board of Supervisors‘ members and dozens of SFWPC members who were there to show our support. It’s especially key to note that most of San Francisco’s public safety agencies are run by women – Police, Fire, District Attorney, Department of Emergency Management, Secret Service Field Office, FBI Field Office, etc. It’s always touching for us to see the warmth and respectful relationship of Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White and Police Chief Fong – a symbol of the collaboration of those agencies, keeping our citizens safe.
SFWPC wishes Chief Fong all the best in her retirement and we thank her for her three decades of committed service on behalf of women and families in San Francisco.
