Want to get involved? Join a committee!
In addition to attending great networking events, staying current on women’s issues in San Francisco and participating in the endorsement process, members are encouraged to join Committees. Each committee generally meets once a month for two to three hours. Any female SFWPC member can join a Committee.
Please stay tuned for updates on 2015 committees.
Please note: If you would like to serve on the Board of Directors, you are STRONGLY encouraged to serve on a subcommittee.
The SFWPC Advisory Council is comprised of former Board members and outstanding individuals in the women’s community who have been chosen to serve by the SFWPC Board of Directors. While the direction and tasks of the Advisory Council are determined by the SFWPC Board of Directors, responsibilities include: planning the annual San Francisco Women’s Holiday Party, keeping board members apprised of current women’s issues in San Francisco, and providing a historical context for the organization. The SFWPC Advisory Council meets twice a year.
In recent years, the SFWPC Policy Committee has created a unique piece of legislation that seeks to boost women’s participation in local government, conducted panels on the crisis of human trafficking, and supported numerous bills related to SFWPC’s goals through letters, phone calls, and testimony before lawmakers. The SFWPC Policy Committee sets regular meetings to make proposals to the Board of Directors, plan action around legislation, and organize events to support its policy efforts.
For meeting information or to present policy proposals or legislation for consideration, contact Gwynn Mackellen, SFWPC Policy Chair, at email@example.com.
