Gwynn spent a portion of her childhood in San Francisco and returned to the city in 2003. She is a graduate of San Francisco City College and San Francisco State University, with a BA in Political Science. Gwynn got her start in activism through an effort to stop an anti-abortion ballot measure in 2005. Following that, she continued to volunteer and work on numerous local and state campaigns, including many with the Sierra Club Bay Chapter. In addition to an internship in the office of Supervisor John Avalos, she has worked in community organizing, and community development in the Excelsior neighborhood. For the last thirteen years, Gwynn has been dedicated to mentoring girls, and considers it one of the most rewarding parts of her life. She currently serves on the Balboa Park Community Advisory Committee and the Ingleside Station Community Police Advisory Board and stays active in transportation and environmental issues.
