Lia Azul Salaverry - PAC Co-Chair


Lia Azul Salaverry works on Special Projects at Mission Neighborhood Centers Inc., a local nonprofit in the heart of the Mission District. In her role, Lia works on a broad range of initiatives including, state and local legislation, coalition building, grassroots organizing, strategic planning, development, and communications.

Prior to this, Lia interned at the Institute for Policy Studies, a Washington D.C. think tank, working on issues of income inequality for bestselling author Barbara Ehrenreich through the Economic Hardship Reporting Project, and for Congressman Jared Huffman (CA 2nd District) and Former Mayor and current County Supervisor of Santa Cruz, Ryan Coonerty.

Lia graduated with honors from UC Santa Cruz in 2015 where she triple majored in Philosophy, Sociology and Legal Studies, and spent a semester studying social entrepreneurship at the Business and Economics School, Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain. At UC Santa Cruz, Lia won the Fanny Carruthers Award in Sociology, was President and CFO of the Legal Education Association for Diversity, and developed a project to combat sex trafficking in San Francisco as a Student Fellow in the Global Information Internship Program.
